UCB is enabling innovation to fundamentally change the clinical study ecosystem through enhanced use of Real World Evidence and decentralization of clinical trials. This focus on more patient-friendly, technology-enabled studies at home will provide a better patient experience and accelerate our clinical studies in a patient-focused way with the aim to bring new solutions to patients faster.

Element Genomics

Element Genomics in downtown Durham has about 5,000 square feet of lab space. In 2018, UCB strengthened our research capabilities by acquiring Element Genomics, a locally grown biotech, bringing capabilities and expertise in functional genomics to UCB. This research team is helping to deepen UCB’s understanding of complex disease mechanisms to potentially develop more impactful, better targeted therapies.

Community Engagement

STEM

We believe it is important to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education in our local communities to advance the next generation of scientists who will to find solutions for patients living with severe diseases. We proudly supported several STEM initiatives in North Carolina this year, including STEMposium and SciFest. Learn more about our North Carolina STEM initiatives here.

  • We use eco-friendly paper products.
  • Our kitchen is stocked with non-disposable coffee mugs, dishes, silverware, and glasses for employee use.
  • We have recycling streams and compactors.
  • We have an ongoing print reducing campaign.
